Donations to the Community Christmas Tree continued Saturday at a sluggish pace.
The Little Jimmie Party is now only seven days away, and the campaign is still $6,667 short of its $30,000 goal. Donations Saturday of $375 brought the campaign total to date to $23,333.
Help is still needed to meet this year’s goal and to ensure a joyous Christmas for more than 800 area children who would otherwise go without this year.
Sponsored by the Bluefield Daily Telegraph, the Community Christmas Tree — also known as the Little Jimmie campaign — provides toys, treats, a book, toboggan, a pair of gloves and other goodies to hundreds of local children in need each year.
Organizers expect to serve around 825 children at this year’s party on Saturday, Dec. 21, from noon to 1:30 p.m., at the city auditorium on Stadium Drive in Bluefield.
Help is still needed to meet this year’s campaign goal.
