An ordinance that would ban future pit bulls from being owned in the city limits of Bluefield was passed by the Bluefield City Board in a 4-0 vote Tuesday evening. Member Dr. Tom Blevins was absent.
The ordinance gives owners of pit bulls 10 days to register their animals with the city’s police department. Any animal that is not registered with the city after the 10-day period can be removed by animal control and the owner can be cited for possessing the dog.
