A Mercer County man who was arrested in 2013 after helping to rob a Bluewell store appeared Wednesday in circuit court for sentencing.
Christopher Lee Small, 24, of Bluefield, was brought before Circuit Court Judge Derek Swope for sentencing. Small was arrested in late June 2013 after a robbery at the Dollar General Store off Route 52 in Bluewell and charged with armed robbery, brandishing a weapon and transferring stolen goods.
Small was sentenced to a term of five to 18 years for robbery and one to five years for conspiracy, according to information with the Mercer County Circuit Clerk’s Office. The judge then suspended this sentence and ordered that Small be sent to the Anthony Correctional Center in White Sulphur Springs for a term of six months to two years.
Small was arrested in 2013 after troopers with the West Virginia State Police Princeton detachment and deputies with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department found him on Route 20 near Bluewell in a blue Ford Taurus that had been seen leaving the robbery, investigators said at the time of the incident. Small was the only suspect.
