Little Jimmie fund receives first donations

BLUEFIELD — Donations of $225 Sunday helped to kick off the 2008 Community Christmas Tree campaign.

Despite the good start, more than $24,775 is still needed to meet this year’s goal of $25,000, and to assure a joyous Christmas for more than 750 children across the region.

Sponsored by the Bluefield Daily Telegraph, the Community Christmas Tree program provides toys, fruit, candy, books, gloves and other goodies to children who otherwise may go without at Christmas.

Help is still needed to meet this year’s goal. Those who would like to contribute to the Community Christmas Tree program can mail donations to: Bluefield Daily Telegraph, c/o Community Christmas Tree, P.O. Box 1599, Bluefield, WV, 24701; or drop them off at the Daily Telegraph office. Checks should be made payable to the Community Christmas Tree Fund.
