AFTERNOON UPDATE — Three indicted on charges of murder in Mercer County

PRINCETON — Three people have been indicted by the Mercer County grand jury on charges of first-degree murder.

Nakia Peterson, 27, and his wife Bridget Peterson, 26, both of Union Street in Bluefield, were both indicted by the grand jury on charges of first-degree murder, robbery and burglary in connection with the Aug. 12 death of their next-door neighbor, Carles Mitchem, 63, also of Union Street, according to Prosecuting Attorney Timm Boggess.

In a second unrelated case, the grand jury also indicted Bruce Lee Milam, 33, of the Kegley-Spanishburg area, on charges of first-degree murder and robbery in connection with the death of Lester Sloane, 58, of Glenwood.
