16 arrested in Tazewell drug probe

TAZEWELL, Va. — A yearlong investigation by Tazewell County officials has netted 16 arrests on drug-related charges.

A special grand jury session returned 17 true bills for a total of 44 counts, Commonwealth Attorney Dennis Lee said.

Lee said the arrests were the result of investigations spanning the last year. Lee said the investigations were conducted in a collaborative effort by the Tazewell County Narcotics Task Force, the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, the Richlands Police Department, the Bluefield, Va. Police Department, the Tazewell Police Department, the Virginia State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.

The indictments include:

• Charles Newton Asbury, 62, 604 Upper Valley Road, Tazewell, Va., distribution of Methadone, a schedule II controlled substance (four counts), distribution of Hydrocodone, a schedule III controlled substance, distribution of Alprazolam, a schedule IV controlled substance (two counts).

• David Allen Baldwin, aka “Super Dave,” 53, P.O. Box 803, Raven, Va., distribution of cocaine, a schedule II controlled substance (three counts), distribution of Oxycodone, a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance.

• Jackie Lee Compton, 51, P.O. Box 491 Rosedale, Va., distribution of Morphine, a schedule II controlled substance (two counts).

• Craig Steven Cook, 38, 4003-B West Honaker Ave., Princeton, distribution of Stanozolol, a schedule III controlled substance.

• Russell Blane Dotson II, 35, P.O. Box 1502, Richlands, Va., conspiracy to sell or distribute Hydromorphone, a schedule II controlled substance, distribution of Hydromorphone, a schedule II controlled substance.

• Sherry Ann Dotson, 38, P.O. Box 1502, Richlands, Va., conspiracy to sell or distribute Hydromorphone, a schedule II controlled substance, distribution of Hydromorphone, a schedule II controlled substance.

• Barbara Kay Lambert, 49, Crescent View, Bldg. 207, Apt. 6 Bluefield, Va., distribution of cocaine, a schedule II controlled substance.

• Latasha Nicole Lambert, 25, Crescent View, Bldg. 207, Apt. 6 Bluefield, Va., conspiracy to sell or distribute cocaine, a schedule II controlled substance (two counts), distribution of cocaine, a schedule II controlled substance (four counts).

• Latasha Nicole Lambert, 25, Crescent View, Bldg. 207, Apt. 6 Bluefield, Va., distribution of cocaine, a schedule II controlled substance.

• Tanya Renee Maggard, 25, Lloyd Street, Apt. 1, Cedar Bluff, Va., conspiracy to sell or distribute Oxycodone, a schedule II controlled substance, distribution of Oxycodone, a schedule II controlled substance (two counts).

• Luther Ronald Millsap, 63, 285 Cherry Lane, Bastian, Va., distribution of Hydromorphone, a schedule II controlled substance.

• Latoya Louise Nichols, 23, 107 Fudge St., Tazewell, Va., conspiracy, grand larceny, criminal solicitation

• Charles Raymond Perdue Jr., 65, P.O. Box 145, Rocky Gap, Va., distribution of cocaine, a schedule II controlled substance (three counts).

• Dreama Lynn Perez, 36, 114 Grose, St., Bluefield, Va., conspiracy.

• Ronald Shannon Perez, 33, 114 Grose, St., Bluefield, Va., conspiracy (two counts), criminal solicitation (two counts).

• Emily Anne Stevenson, 21, 322 Rockbridge Ave., Richlands, Va., distribution of Morphine, a schedule II controlled substance.

• Rebecca Lynn Vance, 25, Lawson Apartment No. 12, Cedar Bluff, distribution of Clonazepam, a schedule IV controlled substance.
