AFTERNOON UPDATE — Webb, Warner announce $4 million for Grundy

GRUNDY, Va. — U.S. Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., and U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner, D-Va., announced Friday the award of an additional $4 million for the ongoing Grundy Flood Control and Redevelopment Project.

Webb and Warner said the funding will be used for a continuation of the ongoing project for flood control and redevelopment in the town of Grundy, as well as the acquisition and administration of a pedestrian bridge contract and a flood warning system and emergency evacuation plans for Buchanan and Dickenson counties.

The two lawmakers also announced $130,000 for the Clinch River Watershed to help protect the Clinch River basin. The basin has been designated as a priority concern due to the number of federally protected species in the basin and the diversity of the ecosystem, the lawmakers said.
