PRINCETON — The hills around Princeton City Park were alive with music Saturday afternoon as the Appalachian Highlands Music Association hosted its annual summer concert and picnic in the park featuring an afternoon of excellent bluegrass and old time music.
“I just love bluegrass music,” Tony Bowen of Atwell in McDowell County said as he and a few family members sat in the shade and listened to the music of Valley Bluegrass from Camp Creek. “My mother got us started on bluegrass, and we’ve followed it ever since.”
Several hundred music lovers set up their lawn chairs or rolled out their blankets on the lawn in front of the city park stage. Most enjoyed the tasty treats of the association’s picnic lunch.
