BALLARD — An federal indictment was unsealed Thursday, charging a Monroe County man with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Kerney Ray Thornsbury, 54, of Ballard had his initial appearance before Federal Magistrate Judge R. Clarke VanDervort on Thursday at U.S. District Court in Beckley. The government alleges that on March 18, Thornsbury was in possession of a U.S. M-1 carbine “in an effecting interstate commerce.”
The government claims further that Thornsbury was convicted in April 1998 in Wyoming County Circuit Court of voluntary manslaughter and wanton endangerment involving a firearm.
