AFTERNOON UPDATE — Bluefield police join statewide ‘Target Red’ campaign

Bluefield Daily Telegraph

BLUEFIELD — Running a red light could easily translate into seeing blue lights in your rear view mirror. Officers with the Bluefield Police Department will be out in full force through June and into early July, cracking down on impatient drivers who run red lights.

Bluefield police are participating in the Target Red Light Campaign, a program funded by the West Virginia Governor’s Highway Safety Program. The effort seeks to reduce the number of accidents at intersections.

Lt. Gary Ruth of the Bluefield Police Department is working to enlist the support of area media and the public to help make the campaign an on-going success story.
