AFTERNOON UPDATE — Hundreds attend federal prison job training seminar

— WELCH — A job training seminar sponsored by the McDowell County Economic Development Association in conjunction with Region 1 WorkForce West Virginia and the Federal Bureau of Prisons attracted a crowd of hundreds, according to economic development director Rachel Lester.
Lester said 75 percent of those in attendance were from McDowell County.
“I think we signed upwards of a couple hundred people for the upcoming workshops which we will be holding in the county,” Lester said. “That will be an application workshop to actually help people put in an application with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. I have all the faith in the people of McDowell County that they will successfully be able to qualify and be employed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.”
