BLUEFIELD — Bluefield Daily Telegraph Executive Editor Tom Colley was hospitalized in critical condition Friday at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Colley became ill at his home Friday morning, and was transported by the Bluefield Rescue Squad to Bluefield Regional Medical Center. He was listed in critical condition in the Cardiac Care Unit of BRMC Friday afternoon where he was joined by family members and employees of the Daily Telegraph.
Colley was later airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va., where he remains hospitalized.
“Tom Colley is a true friend and a great editor,” Daily Telegraph Publisher Randy Deason said. “I want him to get better and get back to the work that he loves. No one cares more about Four Seasons Country and the Bluefield Daily Telegraph than Tom. The Telegraph is not the same when Tom is not here.”
“Tom’s ‘newspaper family members’ here at the Daily Telegraph are keeping him, his wife Frances, and his children and grandchildren in our thoughts and prayers,” Daily Telegraph Managing Editor Samantha Perry said. “Tom works so hard every day for the betterment of our communities, and the people who reside here. We certainly wish the best for him during this difficult time.”
Colley, executive editor of the Daily Telegraph since 1985, resides in Bluefield.
