At the 2012 Women’s Expo, you can eat a cupcake, shop for new jewelry, have lunch, get a flu shot and spend the day with hundreds of other women in the two Virginias. For 11 years, the Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce has offered women more than 80 ways to indulge and relax in October. This year is no different.
This year’s expo will be on Friday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m.-8 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., at the Brushfork Armory in Bluefield. There will be entertainment, exhibitors, giveaways, health and fitness demonstrations, seasonal shopping, fashion shows, lunch with Chick-fil-A and a grand prize giveaway. Princeton Community Hospital will give away flu shots and The First Community Bank will bring back the money machine.
On Friday, the Glenwood Wildcat Band will take the stage at 9 a.m., followed by the Princeton Health and Fitness Center at 1:30 p.m., and then Starz Performing Arts Academy at 6:15 p.m. On Saturday, Carla Brag will perform at 9 a.m., and Leslie Ann’s fashion will host a fashion show on noon. Tickets are $8 and lunch will be provided. Price includes admission into the expo. The show will be held at center court. The day will end with the Brickhouse Cardio demonstration at 2:30 p.m. and the Princeton Primary Show Choir at 4 p.m.
Today’s Woman: The heart of the Community is the theme of the expo; a phrase that has not changed since 2005 — no matter how much the styles and fads have evolved.
Marketing coordinator for the expo, Sue Shields, said keeping the same theme has worked well for the expo. Every woman means grandmothers, mothers, daughters, aunts, sisters and friends. No female is excluded from the expo. There is something for everyone.
Executive Assistant at the Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce Keith Circle and PMCCC President and CEO Robert Farley, along with other gentlemen on the board of directors, help plan the expo. Or keep up the honey-do list given to them by the women organizers.
Circle expects between 5,000-8,000 women during the two-day event. Pre-sale tickets are $3 and available until Oct. 25 at multiple locations. Tickets at the gate are $5 for adults and $1 for children under the age of 12. For more information about where to purchase tickets, call the Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce at 304-487-1502.
The event is sponsored by the PMCCC, along with other various businesses in the community.
