City stormwater infrastructure good

Bluefield Daily Telegraph

— The city of Bluefield received a total of 3.0 inches of rain in a 24-hour period during September 18-19, 2012. Driving around town during this period to check on prone flooding spots, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised to see how well the city's stormwater drains were handling all this flow. The sanitary board of Bluefield received only two calls during this event with backup problems and/or flooding issues. This shows what a great job the men and women of the sanitary board and the storm water board of Bluefield  are doing.

These employees have been working relentlessly on maintaining and upgrading most aspects of the sewer and storm water system throughout both the Bluefield and Brushfork areas.

I firmly believe that any city can only be as good as their infrastructure allows them to be.  Therefore, the citizens and businesses of the two Bluefields should take comfort in the fact that they have one of the best sewer and storm water utilities filled with some of the brightest and dedicated employees in the state.

We have come a long way at the Sanitary Board of Bluefield and are only getting started. Thank you everyone for your hard work and dedication.
