Many residents missed great concert

— I was lucky enough to be one of a handful (literally) of people who heard Kaitlyn Baker and her group perform at Bluefield City Park Friday. There was an audience of three when the show started, and to my knowledge there were never anymore in the audience than there were on stage. But I don’t feel sorry for the singer or her group, I feel sorry for the people who weren’t there. They can go to KaitlynBaker.com and view the video “Coal Train” to get an idea of what they missed.

A face and a figure are nice assets to have, but the voice more than holds its own with any of the female artists I heard when I was attending concerts back in the ’70s, when country and pop were synonymous. Since she has a hand in writing her material, it won’t be many years before tickets to her events will be in the triple digits, and meeting her will be next to impossible. A lot of people missed the chance of a lifetime Saturday. Glad I wasn’t one of them.
