Bluefield Daily Telegraph
Recently I went to the Union Mission office on Bluefield Avenue and bought two beautiful calendars. The pictures on the calendars are of the 12 churches that united their efforts in 1931, in the depth of the Great Depression, to help people who were hurting.
These calendars cost more than the scenic calendars a person can buy at a department store or stationary shop, but the Union Mission is still in the business of helping people who are hurting.
It is hard to put a price tag on something that will help an organization such as the Union Mission and to preserve a little of our local heritage as well.
