Why use kids to pitch products on TV?

— — OK, yeah, I am a curmudgeon. But with Andy Rooney now gone, somebody has to take up the cause. Life is really good, but some things just bug me.

For example: Why is it that so many local TV ads include the “cute” kids of the business owner in them? How many kids watching those ads are going to buy tires, carpets, furniture, tile, plumbing, air conditioning and such? I have no objection to kids selling kids’ products, but its hard for me to be swayed to buy products which only adults buy when the pitchman is a 10-year-old kid. I want to hear from and see competent, experienced and knowledgeable adults from whom I will buy those products, so I will not patronize those who air “kiddie” ads.

And I am sure as hell not going to buy a sofa from any guy who dresses up as a woman! Over and out.
