Bluefield Daily Telegraph
I didn’t grow up thinking that financing stupidity was a primary function of government, but I’m beginning to sense that it has evolved to that. So it floods on Stafford Drive?
Well, Duh! Does anyone remember when it didn’t flood in that area? The “problem” is that we built there anyway. Las Vegas, New Orleans, Los Angeles and Atlantic City have water problems (amazing, right?) which our governments will spend gazillions on “fixes” such as dikes, sea walls, flood insurance, etc., while our pipelines, bridges, and other infrastructure crumbles.
I’m all for the concept behind affordable health care (as a kid growing up in Bluefield, the physicians owned Bluefield Sanitarium, and nobody ever was turned away), but this administration’s product has the appearance of a ship carved from a sponge.
And the Defense Department continues to pour a large portion of its reduced budget into a plane that can’t fly.
Perhaps this is just the rumblings of a disgruntled old geezer, but I feel like singing the John Adams line from 1776, “ Is anybody there? Does anybody care? Does anybody see what I see?”
