Diversity needed in area recreation

— — Hello, this is Mary McKinney again and I’m so happy to read about the hopes and plans for Pinnacle Rock State Park! I’ve had similar thoughts for the county I live in — McDowell, for a while now.

I’m so glad others can see the numerous possibilities and come up with great ideas! Thanks to the Lord!

I so agree that our area needs to diversify our industries’ energy sources and recreation some more — especially diversity in tourism and recreation — to include people with different tastes — especially our own residents.

Whether they prefer something like ATV riding, or something more calm, relaxed, even serene such as fishing, camping, horseback riding, bicycling, hiking, nature walks, sightseeing and picnicking, including whole family activities and even those especially for children — as in Virginia.

Nature walks designed for them, petting zoos, history parks, pony rides, small exhibition farms, etc.

A lot of which we already have, but it would be nice and beneficial if we add more. It would help us not only economically, but with our own residents well-being as well.

Thanks so much!

Mary McKinney
