Help needed in finding old churches

— Can some readers of Bluefield Daily Telegraph help me? I am making a collection of photos of old churches — old, as built before World War II. I want to include a few churches of Mercer and adjacent counties in my project.

I am taking photos of churches of many denominations, and am especially interested in getting photos of Unitarian/Universalist, Primitive Methodist, Quaker, Regular Baptist and Primitive Baptist churches.

My travel partner and I will be in the southern part of West Virginia in early fall and plan to spend two or three days in the area of Mercer and adjacent counties. We will be taking church photos at that time, along with a few photos of other sites.

If anyone has a church they would like to tell me about, a letter or post card will reach me at 152 Lightwood Knot Road, Deep Run, N.C., 28525. I need the name of the church, the location (at least the name of the road it is on) and, if you know it, the year the building was constructed.

Council T. Jarman
