I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the Bluefield Daily Telegraph for covering the closing of Calvary Baptist Church. The coverage was very good, and the position (A-1) could not have been better. Thanks to Greg Jordan for an article well written, also to Eric DiNovo for taking pictures.
Many thanks to the following: former pastors, Jim Davidson, Jim MIlam and Gary Pennington. Pastors of churches belonging to the Mountain State Baptist Association, former members. Mary Irvin, former member and pianist, accompanist for the congregational singing. Thank each of you for your support. Special thanks to Dr. Allan Thompson, director of Missions for Mountain State Baptist Association. Dr. Thompson was our interim pastor and kept us on track spiritually, encouraged and helped to prepare us for the transition period.
Calvary Baptist Church no longer exists, but will remain in the hearts of the faithful members and many others who have passed this way. The testimony of this church will continue on.
Form more than 100 years, Calvary Baptist Church has touched and changed the lives of hundreds through sound biblical teaching, and has been a sanctuary to all who have entered.
Finally, to the faithful few believers, those of us who hung in there, remained faithful to the end, continued in prayer and fellowship. Together, with one accord, our song of praise, to God be the glory!
