Thanks to those who helped with trail

— — It looks as if the city of War and Big Creek District will receive the beginning of work on a section of the Hatfield-McCoy Trail. Called the Warrior Trail, it is hoped that this will help to improve the economy in a part of McDowell County that is generally forgotten by the rest of the state.

Several members of a select committee, formed under the late Mayor Tom Hatcher and recently with Earl Crigger as chairman, have worked tirelessly and diligently for about five years to make this happen. It is seldom you see citizens who will volunteer with this kind of dedication for the long haul. Those members of that committee should be commended for their patience and dedication to that end. For any small part any member of that committee may have contributed to this achievement, the citizens of War and McDowell County owe special thanks.
