Now is the time for an outpatient clinic

— — With more than 150,000 veterans in West Virginia and 1,000 homeless, it is time to step up to the plate and be heard in the next two years when the so-called war is over.

will need health care, so that alone shows that an outpatient clinic is needed in this area. The time for action is now — as you can see the need is going to get worse. What has happened to veterans helping veterans like it should be?

This year will mark 15 years that I have been crying out for a clinic in this area. So I would be glad to know how many more years it is going to take.

I have had the opportunity to talk to and communicate with some of the most powerful politicians in this land about this issue and have been told that it is going to happen. My question is when.

Believe me, I appreciate the support of all concerned citizens both local and national. Special thanks to Princeton Community Hospital for the offer of a space, thanks to an outstanding foundation that has offered to supply some medical equipment, thanks to all the attorneys and all the delegates who have offered support. As the president said a few days ago, now is the time, which I have said many years ago.

We have one of West Virginia’s outstanding senators leaving the Senate next year, and just think what a project this would be for him to be remembered for, along with all the other things he has done for this great state that he loves so much. Just a thought.

I have nothing but good to say about the service I have received for 33 years at Beckley VA hospital.

But as I have said many times before, there is a whole lot of difference between a hands-on clinic and a hospital. So veterans and all concerned citizens let’s get behind this project. Now is the time.

Remember do nothing get nothing.
