I am writing this letter in response to an article in Monday, Nov. 11 paper, headlined “Atheist ‘mega-churches’ take root in U.S., world.” One of the many wonderful things about my God is that He gave us all free will to believe in Him or not, that’s your right and your choice. Whether you choose to believe in God or not, it doesn’t change the fact that He is God.
I know in America people have the right to assemble, and the right of free speech, these rights still don’t change God. What offends me is that they call this movement a church. God’s word says, “But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” I Timothy 3:15.
Meeting together is your right, but calling it a church is wrong. Atheist Americans might try to take God out of a lot of things, but, by God’s word, you cannot take Him out of the church. In Matthew 16:18 Jesus says, “And I say unto thee that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
