Bluefield Daily Telegraph
I loved Charles Owens’ very down-to-earth column on last week’s polar vortex, extreme cold and trying to heat his home but ending up with smoky clothes. I also loved his conclusion: “But I will still give credence to what scientists are saying. As it is only wise to be an informed citizen on all matters.”
As for people who mock climate scientists, they are blaming the messenger because they don’t like the news and the obvious need to act on the news.
Mostly Owens’ clever article reminded me of Mark Twain’s famous quote‚ “Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.”
So onward in search of palatable solutions to climate change. When the smoke clears, the public is going to realize that EPA regulations are a really bad idea for fighting climate change, and they will want something else. They will want Congress to charge fossil fuel companies for the emissions their fuels cause, and they’ll want those fees rebated back to the public.
But right now foxy fools are blowing too much smoke in our eyes!
