Verlin Moye deserved paper’s praise

Bluefield Daily Telegraph

The opinion article written by Samantha Perry in the November 9, 2008, Sunday Edition of the paper was an excellent commendation for a job well done by the staff of the Clerk of the County Commission, who along with other employees and poll workers, assisted in what was an excellent election.

Tom Bone’s comments of eagerness, professionalism, and competence, were praise they all so richly deserve. The article went even further and outlined some of the differences in this election day’s process over past elections, which were unfortunately beset with so many problems.

While the staff do deserve much of the credit for the actual work performed on election, there was one person who was completely left out of the accolades. The person who worked diligently to ensure that all workers were properly trained, that the machines were maintained, tested and ready for use, and who’s tireless efforts made what Mrs. Perry called “a journalist’s dream-come-true election.”

That one person is Verlin T. Moye, who was only recently appointed the Clerk of the County Commission. Verlin T. Moye ensured that the staff received the proper training, and that all possible actions were taken to achieve success, all while he was campaigning for election against determined and qualified competition.

Thank you Mr. Moye for all of your hard work, along with the staff of your office and the other Courthouse employees, in making this election such an enjoyable experience.
