Virginians voiced message with votes
Bluefield Daily Telegraph
On Nov. 3, Virginians spoke out loud and clear. We sent a message not only across our state, but across the nation. That message is: The “change” that Barack Obama and the Democrats promised in 2008, is looking more like a disaster, and we are not going to tolerate it.
This repudiation of the Democrat party is intended as a signal for them to stop the radical “change” that they and President Obama are now trying to ram down our throats. We don’t want the government to take over our health care system, they will just make things worse. We don’t want “cap and trade,” because that will cause many of us to lose our jobs, and will cost everyone money in additional taxes. We don’t want amnesty for illegal aliens, they take away jobs and resources from American citizens.
The 2010 elections are now only a year away. If the Democrats now in the House and Senate don’t think that they can be defeated, well think again. Congressmen Boucher and Rahall, are you starting to get the idea yet? Look at the 2009 election results in your district, do you see a trend developing? You can be beat, and you will, if you continue to ignore your constituents.
Now lest some of my Democrat friends feel that I’m being too “one-sided” in this letter, I offer the following to the Republicans who were elected yesterday.
When President Ronald Reagan was making treaties with the former Soviet Union, he often said the following quote: “Trust, But Verify.”
Republicans, Virginians voted to place you back into high state offices, but don’t think that you can do things that we don’t want. We placed our “trust” in you, but don’t doubt for one minute that we won’t “verify” that you actually do what you’ve promised!
Republicans, if you stick to the conservative values and principles that got you elected, then maybe Virginians will see fit to place our trust in you for high federal offices.
