We need an all-out push for energy

It took astronomical amounts of money and manpower to come ahead of the Axis powers during WW II in building the atomic bomb. Our government is not willing making a similar effort to make us energy independent.
A few millions for battery research just won’t do.
We are, or used to be, a “can-do” society and an all-out effort might very well be a solution.
Under the threat of a technological breakthrough, oil producing countries would pump oil as rapid as possible, before the goose laying the golden eggs is killed.
They would remain only sand exporting nations.
