Mothers enrich lives in many ways

As Mother’s Day approaches and stores and ads remind children to “remember” mothers, I think of how enriched my life has been by being the mother of two children of my own and countless others.
Perhaps the “best” Mothers Day gift is that of the children you have or have touched in some way. As you care, love, share, weep, laugh and remember the struggles to become the person they are or will become.
I remember the many “mothers” in my own life and those of my children. Those women who gave the extra time and care to make a difference. Whether it was tying a shoe, counting, reading, or learning to drive a car, or in most cases, just listening, each act gave as much as was received.
It is not the birth but the life. It is not the gift but the giving. Making a difference and realizing the difference in the life you live.
