Malissa Kathleen Robinson Stiltner

VANSANT, Va. — Malissa Kathleen Robinson Stiltner, 84 years of age, of Vansant, Va., passed away Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Dickenson County, she was the daughter of the late Chris and Stella O’Quinn Robinson. She resided in Buchanan County most of her life and attended the Old Regular Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Stiltner was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Stiltner on November 3, 1998.

She is survived by four daughters, Jean and husband Johnny Harper, Malabar, Fla., Janice and husband Allen Deskins, Swords Creek, Va., Stella Stiltner, Abingdon, Va., Barbara Thomas, Bristol, Va.; two sons, Harold and wife Judy Stiltner, Powhatan, Va., Jack and wife Sue Stiltner, Vansant, Va.; two sisters, Irene Stiltner, Bristol, Va., Elgeva and husband Jesse Hagy, Powhatan, Va.; five granddaughters, Melissa and husband Rob Branagh, Cindy and husband Trevor Pruitt, Amanda and husband Chad Gibson, Amy and husband Joey Ramey, and Carrie Thomas; four grandsons, Chris and wife Bobbie Stiltner, Michael and wife Stacy Stiltner, Jason and wife Shannon Harper, and John Allen and wife Sally Deskins; fourteen great-grandchildren, Rusty Stiltner, Matt Stiltner, Abby Pruitt, Colton Stiltner, Blake Pruitt, Braydon Stiltner, May Deskins, Henry Deskins, Traeley Branagh, Taylor Branagh, Riley Harper, Ethan Gibson, Brooke Perry, and Chase Ramey. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Cox and Gaynell Jackson; and five brothers, Quentin, Bonsel, Evans (Tom) Omar, Chris, Jr. Robinson.

Funeral services for Malissa Kathleen Robinson Stiltner will be conducted Monday, November 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Roger Coleman and Howard Daniels officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday afternoon 5:00 p.m. with evening services at 7:00 p.m.

Active pallbearers will be grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. J. G. Patel, Mike Rife, Bill Neeley, Stan Morefield, Eddie Sturgill, Raffael Farrow, James Copenhaven, and Lawrence Jackson.
