Jeannette D. Doss

ELKHORN — Jeannette D. Doss, age 79, of Elkhorn, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at a Welch hospital.

Born on February 27, 1930 in Bluefield, Va., she was a son of the late John D. Sherman and Leola Devor Peters. She had been a resident of Elkhorn for most of her life and was a member of the Elkhorn United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Sorority at Northfork and the Senior Friends at St. Lukes. She was a retired certified nursing assistant from McDowell Continuous Care.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren “Toby” Doss; a brother, David Peters; and two sisters, Annette Chavae and Ellen Davis.

Survivors include her son, Warren Richard “Dickie” Doss and wife Patty of Bluefield; daughter, Cynthia Yvonne Chastain and husband Don of Toccoa, Ga.; two grandchildren, Amy and Chris; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Alisha and Tyler; two sisters, Linda Sue Creed and husband Ralph of Wayne, W.Va., Sandy Paul of Pineville, La.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. Olen Robertson officiating. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum in Princeton where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Friday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
