Mrs. Marie A. Collins Martin

KIMBALL — Mrs. Marie A. Collins Martin, age 53, of P.O. Box 335, Kimball, WV 24853, departed this life on Monday, October 12, 2009 in Princeton Community Hospital following a brief illness.

Marie was born May 20, 1956 in Welch and was the daughter of the late Jeanette Johnson Collins, Eddie L. Collins, Sr., Thomas Williams and the stepdaughter of Margaret Johnson of Kyle.

Marie was a graduate of Northfork High School, class of 1974, who attended Bluefield State College and graduated from the Valley Training Center in Princeton. She was a certified nursing assistant (CNA) having received her training from the Mcdowell County Vocational Technical Center in Welch. Marie enjoyed working in the medical profession as she was a former employee at Stevens Clinic Hospital and last employed at Welch Community Hospital for approximately 15 years. Marie was a member of Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church in Norwood addition of Kimball for many years.

In addition to her parents and her father who raised her, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby J. Martin, Sr., who passed away June 9, 2009.

Marie will be lovingly remembered by her 10 children, Robert J. and wife, Tasha Martin of Huntington, Jason J. Martin, Justin A. Martin and Ronald Martin, all of Kimball and Bobby J. Martin, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, Jacqueline “Sunshine” and husband, Corey Thornhill, Sr. of Kimball, Justina M. Martin of Havaco, Rosanna Martin of Bluefield, Suzzanna Martin of Beckley and Joanna Martin of Highpoint, N.C.; six grandchildren, Jacob, Corey Jr., Devon, Janya and Jason Jr.; 11 brothers and sisters, Eddie Collins, Eric and wife, Iris Collins of Hickory, N.C., Steven Johnson of Kyle and James Robinson of Charlotte, N.C., Joyce and husband, Ray Reynolds of Clairmont, N.C., Claudette and husband Elliott Carter of Cleveland, Ohio, Sandi and husband, Victor Holcomb of Welch, Donna and husband, Jerry Hendricks of Christiansburg, Va., Diane Brooks of Pearisburg, Va., Cynthia Hairston and Patsy Smith, both of Washington, D.C.; five sisters-in-law, Ruby Robinison of Kimball, Jacqueline Aikers and Josie Martin, both of Radford, Va., Lucille Martin of Welch and Ruth Richardson of Ratcliff, Ky.; and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins; many friends and a special friend, Sharon Belcher of Roderfield.

Services for Mrs. Marie Martin will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, October 16, 2009 at Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church in the Norwood addition of Kimball with Pastor William McPherson, officiating, the Reverend Nathaniel Burroughs and Pastor Roger L. Walton assisting.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers and flower bearers.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, until the 1:00 p.m. hour of service on Friday at the church.

Arrangements and services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.
