PRINCETON — Dorothy Frances Hall Harvey, beloved mother and grandmother, left her earthly home to receive her final reward in Heaven during the morning of October 10, 2008.
She was the daughter of the late Dal and Maude Gillespie Hall. She was a retired employee of the Celanese Corp. after 38 years of service. She was a woman of tremendous character and strength. She took pride in herself but most of all in her family. She followed the “Golden Rule” everyday and never hesitated to help someone in need. She never complained about her circumstances even in death. She was a great “teacher” with many of life’s lessons to learn from. She was a “mother” to many and will be remembered as one of the finest ladies to have ever walked this earth. She was a former member of the Johnston Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Harvey; two sons, Douglas and Donald Ray Hall; two sisters, Letha Farley and Minnie Everidge; six brothers, John, Jasper, Clayton, Hubert, Clarence and Mack Hall; and two granddaughters.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory three daughters, Mary Hill and husband Robert of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Lillie Lawrence and husband Bill of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Alice Shires and husband Sam of Lindside; one son, Thomas Harvey of Princeton; brother, Thurman Hall and wife Lena of Princeton; one sister, Vonnie Bell Hall of Princeton; daughter-in-law, Judith Hall of Lashmeet. She leaves behind many heartbroken people who knew her as “Granny”. She was the grandmother to ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She leaves behind her lifelong friend, Grace Hylton, many nieces and nephews, and her wonderful caregiver, Tammy Williams.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 13, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with her grandson, the Rev. Justin Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Hall Family Cemetery on Halls Ridge Road. Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
