Brenda Sue (Jewell) Payne

JOLO — Brenda Sue (Jewell) Payne, 57 years of age of Jolo, W.Va., entered into external life on Saturday, October 4, 2009, following a short illness. Born in McDowell County, March 11, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Marshall Jewell and Eve Vance Jewell.

Brenda was a Christian of the Pentecostal faith, enjoyed cooking, and had won several blue ribbons in baking. She also was a floral designer, loving wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Thomas Marshall Jewell and Eva Vance Jewell, she was preceded in death by father and mother-in-law, the Rev. John D. Payne and Ruth Payne.

She is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 42 years, Roger D. Payne of Jolo, W.Va.; her five adoring daughters, Michelle Cooke of Welch, W.Va., Tina Payne of Bradshaw, W.Va., Tammy Payne-Husari of Nashville, Tenn., Paula Mosley of Nashville, Tenn. and Christina Harrison of Bradshaw, W.Va. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Daniel Estep, Nabeel and Brianne Husari, Kylie Mosley, Alison Carlan, Lauren Husari, Channing Harrison, J. Alexander Valencia and Blayne Harrison; her aunt, Annabelle Jewell of Jolo, W.Va.; and many beloved cousins and friends.

Home going celebrations services for Brenda Sue (Jewell) Payne will be conducted Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts officiating. Private entombment will follow at the Mountain Rest Mausoleum at Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va.

Active pallbearers will be her sons-in-laws, Steve Cook, Brett Mosley, Elby Harrison; grandsons, Daniel Estep and Nabeel Husari. Also serving will be the one she called her "brother", Mose Ed (Buddy) Cooper.

The family will receive friends at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Brenda’s favorite words were, "I’ll Keep Holding on to Jesus."
