Mrs. Ruby Keen Shepherd
OVIEDO, Fla. — Mrs. Ruby Keen Shepherd, age 80, of Oviedo, Fla., passed away, Monday, September 21, 2009 in a Richlands, Va. hospital following a brief illness.
She was born in Yukon, W.Va. and was the daughter of the late Gordon Joshua and Louise Breeden Keen.
She had made her home in Florida for over forty years and was of the Protestant faith. She was a graduate of Whitewood High School Class of 1947.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Carl Shepherd; and one son, Benjamin Shepherd.
Survivors are: One daughter, Sharon Shepherd Smith and husband, Brent of Oviedo, Fla.; one son, Stephen Shepherd and wife, Marian of Buffalo, Wyo.; five sisters, Gay Maxwell of Whitewood, Va., Martha Compton and husband, Arnold of Brookville, Ohio, Alice Coomer and husband, Jack of Dayton, Ohio, Shirley Whitt and husband, Larry of Dayton, Ohio, Linda Smith and husband, Bob of Beattyville, Ky.; three brothers, Claude Keen and wife, Nell of Whitewood, Va., Clyde Keen and wife, Jerri of Lexington, Va., Scott Keen and wife, Margaret of Dayton, Ohio; two grandchildren, Randy Smith and wife, Lucy, and Matthew Smith.
Funeral services for Ruby Keen Shepherd will be conducted Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Va. with Pastor Andy Maynard officiating. Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
