Samuel Mason Wickline, Sr.

LINDSIDE — Samuel Mason Wickline, Sr., age 71, of P.O. Box 101-A, Lindside, W.Va. and formerly of Peterstown, died on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 after a long illness in a Princeton hospital.

Born on August 28, 1936 in Peterstown, he was a son of Dana Christina LaFon Wickline of Waiteville and the late Rexford Wickline. He had been a resident of Lindside for 2 years and was of the Baptist faith. He was a graduate of Peterstown High School and West Virginia Business College. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Korea. He retired from General Services.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Mullins Wickline; and a sister, Nancy Mann.

Survivors in addition to his mother include: Two sons: Samuel M. Wickline, Jr. of Roxboro, N.C. and Rexford Ernest Wickline of Charlotte, N.C.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three brothers: Ernest E. Wickline, Sr. and wife Juanita of Mt. Hope, Marshall E. Wickline and wife JoAnn of Oak Hill, Howard Paul Wickline and wife Merlene of Bluewell; three sisters: Virginia Christine Clemmons of Peterstown, Marie Braddock of New Castle, Del., Lula Mae Meadows and husband Larry of Roanoke, Va.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. Bernice Warner officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where military honors will be performed by the West Virginia Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Saturday from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the Wickline family.
