Mr. Billy Carl Honaker

CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — Mr. Billy Carl Honaker, age 69, of Baptist Valley section of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2008 in a Salem, Virginia Veterans Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Hartwell, West Virginia and was the son of the late Lon B. and Thelma Lockhart Honaker, both McDowell County natives.
He had made his home in the Baptist Valley area most of his life and was the co-owner of Blue Grass Machinery in North Tazewell, Virginia until 2000. He was a member of the Yost Chapel Church in Baptist Valley and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a graduate of Tazewell High School Class of 1957.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant sister, Ann Nadine Honaker; one sister, Betty Slaughter; one grandson, Samuel Ein Altizer; and one granddaughter, Jessica Nicole Altizer.
Survivors are: His wife: Hattie Waddell Honaker; two daughters: Diane Altizer and husband, Sam, Jr. of Baptist Valley, Virginia Teresa Bracken and husband, Paul of Parma, Ohio; one sister, Brenda Poskas and husband, Leon of Pulaski, Virginia; one brother, Edward Honaker and wife, Fern of Troutville, Virginia; two granddaughters, Sarah Bracken and Katlyn Bracken; step granddaughter, Tiffany Bracken; and one step great-grandson, Angel Colon; and special caregivers: Chores & Errands Ambulance Service, Dr. In Young Park and Staff at the Richlands Dialysis Center.
Funeral services for Billy Carl Honaker will be conducted Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Charles Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at the Bandy Family Cemetery in Baptist Valley, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Brian Honaker, Brett Honaker, Kevin Honaker, David Mills, Greg Poskas, Jeff Carr, Woody Grindstaff, and Jimmy Grindstaff. Honorary pallbearers will be: Bert Whittaker, Bobby Gillespie, Carl Honaker, Randall Waddell, Don Colley, Don Waddell, and Buck Puckett. Members of Barns-Beavers VFW Post #7136 will conduct military graveside rites.
