Ermel Lynton Hunt, Jr.
VANSANT, Va. — Ermel Lynton Hunt, Jr., 61 years of age, of Vansant, Va., passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Born July 1, 1947 in Biggs, Ky., he was the son of Ama Lee Elliott Hunt of Vansant, Va. and the late Ermel Lynton Hunt Sr.
Lynton was a retired master carpenter who spent many years working in the Buchanan County area. He graduated in 1965 from Grundy Senior High School and attended Pikeville College. He attended Grundy Bible Church and spent may years working at the Youth Camp of Evangel in Briggs Ky. An avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, his greatest hours were spent playing baseball with his grandsons. A loving son, brother, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one son, Ermel Lynton Hunt, III.
In addition to his mother, Ama Lee Elliott Hunt, he is survived by one daughter, Laura Lee Landrum and husband Jerry of Gaynesville, Va.; two sisters, Priscilla Blair and husband Roy of Morehead, Ky. and Rebecca Caudill and husband Earnie of Vansant, Va.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, Zach Landrum, Austin Landrum, Jett Landrum and Oliva Landrum.
Funeral services for Ermel Lynton Hunt, Jr. will be conducted Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Carl Tegeler, the Rev. Stephen Tegeler, the Rev. Donald Ashby and the Rev. Eddie Lindsey. Entombment will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, Va.
Active pallbearers will be Jerry Landrum, Dewayne Keen, Jerry Elkins, Joe Harris, Nathan Stiltner, Ross McElroy, Zach Landrum, Rob Taylor, Josh Lindsey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Taylor, Kenneth Keen, Austin Landrum, Jett Landrum, Nathan Caudill, James Sparks and Chris Keen.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday (today) where services will be held at 7:00 p.m.
