Lewis Gale Woodyard

ATHENS — Lewis Gale Woodyard, 83, of 214 Caldwell Street in Athens died Tuesday, July 01, 2008 at his residence. Born June 21, 1925 in Galax, Va., he was the son of the late Raymond Clifford and Julia Ann Hampton Woodyard. He was a retired self-employed contractor and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of the Lilly Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Alma Lucille Woodyard; one sister, Lula Rose Bridges; one stepdaughter, Charlotte Lee Eisenhower; and one stepson, Jim Huffman preceded him in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Gale Perry and husband Buddy of Lake Ozark, Mo.; three grandchildren, Kelli Fehmer, Cassie Mathews and her husband Brian, and Jeremy Huffman; five great-grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Veda D. Faulknier and husband Danny of Princeton and their children, Danny and Heather; one sister, Bonnie Romano of Princeton; one brother, John Oliver Woodyard and his wife Priscilla of Boiling Springs, S.C.; several nieces and nephews; and caregiver, Goldie Dennis.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Bruce Woodson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the service hour on Sunday. Burial will be on Monday, July 7, 2008 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Pallbearers will be David Bailey, Donnie Bridges, Ronnie Anderson, Alan Hall, Keith Anderson and Kevin Hamm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lilly Grove Baptist Church, 1012 Oakwood Ave., Princeton, WV 24740.
