Raymond Franklin Stoklasa
BLUEFIELD, Va. — Raymond Franklin Stoklasa, age 84, of Colonial Gardens, Apt C-2, Bluefield, Va., passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at a Bluefield hospital.
Born on October 28, 1923 in Portsmouth, Va., he was a son of the late Luke D. Canady, Sr. and Elizabeth Cross Canady. He had been a resident of Bluefield, Va. for 16 years and was a retired security guard. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, served in Normandy and Germany during World War II as a Master Sergeant, and was a Purple Heart recipient.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hannah Stoklasa; four brothers, Johnny Stoklasa, Luke Canady, Jr., Howard Canady, and James Canady.
Survivors include: Two sisters, Elizabeth C. Williams of Portsmouth, Va., Marie C. Williams of Portsmouth, Va.; three brothers, Corin Canady of Portsmouth, Va., Eugene Canady of Portsmouth, Va., William Canady of Portsmouth, Va.; sister-in-law, Rennie Canady of Portsmouth, Va.; special friends and caregivers, Trish Workman, Angie Brinegar, Shonda Lewis, and Kim Williby
Funeral services will be conducted (today) Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. Shawn Bragg officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. with military honors being performed by the WV Honor Guard. His “outlaw friends,” Ray Lewis, Wilson Workman, Yogi Workman, Randy Compton, John White, Dallas Hall, and Bobby “Crump” Cranfill will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Saturday (today) from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
