Claude (Doc) Vance Harris

— CHARLESTON — Claude (Doc) Vance Harris of Charleston, formerly of Bluefield, was born to Claude Harris Jr. and Rosa Marie Harris on March 14, 1964 and departed this life on May 2, 2008, at ChSue Richmond 5/12/08 arleston Area Medical Center, following a short illness.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bertha and John Harris and maternal grandparents Hazel and John Prunty
For all that knew Claude knew he had a love for basketball and was given the name “The Doc” by his close friends.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Queenie Martin; daughters, Queenie Marie Martin, Melissa Nicole Martin, and Danielle Six Starr Harris; brother, Carlos John Harris (Stacie), who know and loved him better than anyone; brother, Phillip Mitchell (Virginia) of Hampton Va.; sister, Chasitity Price (Richard) of Charlotte N.C.; aunt, Helen Berger of Crumpler, W.Va.; uncles, James Prunty of Keystone W.Va., Jerome Prunty and Robert Prunty both of Bluefield W.Va.; two grandsons, Marquell and Tru who he adored; a host of nieces and nephews and three special friends, Sharon Showalter, Lisa Mitchell and Tony Brooks. He will be greatly missed by many.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
