Roy D. Lowe
BALLARD — Roy D. Lowe, age 81, of Ballard, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Princeton Community Hospital, Princeton, W.Va.
He was born June 6, 1926 in Wyoming County, W.Va., and was the son of the late Dorsey and Mabel Lester Lowe. He was a Coal Miner for 33 1⁄2 years, having last worked for Royality Smokeless Coal Company, and was a member of the United Mine Workers Of America. Mr. Lowe loved to help everyone in the community, he was a member of the Church Of Christ, Princeton, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Edward Jay; five brothers, Fred, Joe, Okey, James and Paul; three sisters, Mae Peaks, Addie Dorsett, and Gladys Steele.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Ella Jane Lester Lowe; four sons, Roger and wife June of Fall Branch, Tenn., Timothy and wife Linda, Alfred and wife Lavon all of Hanover, W.Va., and Quintin and wife Michelle of Ballard, W.Va.; fourteen grandchildren: Sean, Lance, Wendy, Sarah, Ashley, Greg, Stanley, April, E.J., Sherry, Brittany, Tiffany, Rasheed, and Joshua; six great-grandchildren: Clista, Dante, Hayley, Gregory Scott, Jacob, and Abigail; one brother, Tommy Lowe of Roanoke, Va.; four sisters, Rena Marseco of Salem, Va., Reva Puckett of Roanoke, Va., Ocie Mayhew of Salem, Va., and Dorothy Barber of Texas.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday (today), May 10, 2008 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, W.Va., with Preacher Gary Durham officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, W.Va.
