KELLYSVILLE — Benton L. “Benny” Whitlow, 75, of 320 Thornton Avenue in Princeton, formerly of Kellysville, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born May 24, 1932 in Kellysville, he was the son of the late Robert and Alice Whitt Whitlow. He retired for health reasons in 1982 from Consolidated Coal Company Itmann Mine. Prior to working in coal mining, he worked in the timber industry. He was of the Protestant faith. Benny had made his home in Princeton for the past five years with his son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Katrina Whitlow.
In addition to his parents, five brothers, Larry Whitlow, Harry Whitlow, James Whitlow, Dean Whitlow and Houston Whitlow; and two sisters, Lois Whitlow Proffitt and Betty Jo Whitlow Jones preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Mazie Lee Anna Hurt Whitlow of Princeton; three daughters, Theresa Thompson and husband James of Kellysville, Kathy Hicks and husband Clarence of Princeton and Belinda Thompson and husband Maurice of Narrows, Va.; two sons, Bobby Whitlow and wife Katrina of Princeton and Jerry Whitlow and wife Kathy of Peterstown; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, J.E. Whitlow and wife Ellen of Kellysville; and one sister, Clarice Bozeman of Greenville, N.C.
Funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008 (today) at the G.E. Davis Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale with the Rev. Gary Raulerson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until the service hour on Friday. Graveside rites will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Oakvale Cemetery. Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those attending the graveside rites are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
