WVU Hospitals seeks hearing on Mon General plan

MORGANTOWN — WVU Hospitals is seeking a public hearing on Mon General Hospital’s plan to provide radiation therapy to cancer patients.

Mon General has applied for a certificate of need from the West Virginia Health Care Authority to buy a linear accelerator, which is used to provide radiation therapy treatments.

WVU Hospitals said Tuesday that it has asked the authority to hold a public hearing on the application.

WVU Hospitals president and CEO Bruce McClymonds says in a news release that there already are five linear accelerators in north central West Virginia.
