DUBLIN, Va. —
A former Franklin County sheriff’s deputy faces up to life in prison for the fatal shooting of his ex-wife and the wounding of a Virginia State Police sergeant.
Media outlets report 34-year-old Jonathan Agee’s sentencing hearing lasted more than seven hours Tuesday and was to resume Wednesday in Roanoke Circuit Court.
Agee pleaded no contest in January in Roanoke to first-degree murder in Jennifer Agee’s shooting. It occurred on Memorial Day 2011 in the parking lot of a convenience store in Roanoke.
He also pleaded no contest in Montgomery County in January to charges related to the wounding of former State Police Sgt. Matthew Brannock during a chase on Interstate 81 shortly after the Roanoke shooting.
Sentencing in both cases is being decided by Roanoke Circuit Judge Charlie Dorsey.
