Norfolk dispatcher apologizes for Facebook post

NORFOLK, Va. — A 911 dispatcher in Norfolk has apologized to the family of a man killed by police for a comment she posted on Facebook about the incident.

Jessica Camarillo tells WAVY-TV  that her comment was intended as joke but it was insensitive.

Police fatally shot 22-year-old Joshua “Omar” Johnson on May 20 after he struck an officer with his car.

The next day, Camarillo said in a posting on a retired police officer’s Facebook page that the officers should sue Johnson’s family for putting their lives in danger.

Camarillo told WAVY in an interview aired Monday that she doesn’t know what she was thinking when she posted the comment.

Camarillo was suspended from her job after she made the post.
