Va. man wanted for questioning extradited from WV

LEESBURG, Va. — Authorities say a man wanted in Virginia for questioning in three unsolved slayings in the past decade has been extradited from West Virginia on an unrelated weapons charge.

Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Liz Mills said Charles Severance was transported to the county’s detention center on Monday. An arraignment is expected Tuesday.

The 53-year-old has been held in Wheeling, West Virginia, since his arrest in March. Virginia authorities sought his return as a fugitive from justice on a firearms warrant. Police in Alexandria have said they want to talk to Severance as part of their investigation into unsolved killings, but have not named him as a suspect.

Severance’s lawyer argued that the warrant is a pretext to hold him in relation to the unsolved killings despite a lack of evidence.
