CHARLESTON —  Portions of West Virginia are under a flash flood watch as severe thunderstorms move into the state.

The National Weather Service issued the watch until 5 p.m. Friday for at least 18 counties that includes cities such as Charleston, Huntington, Parkersburg and Williamson.

With the ground already saturated from recent rains, the weather service says the latest storms could cause small streams to rise quickly.
