Sprint Wireless 911 problem in Jefferson and Berkeley counties

Associated Press

CHARLES TOWN — Sprint Wireless customers in Jefferson and Berkeley counties who need emergency services are being advised to use landline phones to call 911.

The Jefferson County Emergency Communications Center says dispatchers can’t hear callers who have Sprint Wireless service. But the callers can hear the dispatchers.

Dispatchers are telling affected callers that they can’t hear them and that they will re-contact them immediately.

The center says Sprint is working to solve the problem.
