A McDowell County man was arrested twice in the same day on the same charges, police said.
Deputy R.R. Freeman of the McDowell County Sheriff's office conducted a traffic stop in the Welch area Friday on Harry Glen Perdue, 59, of Canebrake, Sheriff Martin West said.
Upon investigating during the traffic stop West said the deputy determined that Perdue was driving intoxicated with drugs. The deputy also found a small amount of marijuana as a result of the traffic stop.
West said Perdue was transported to McDowell County Magistrate Court for processing and arraignment on a DUI with drugs charges. Perdue was arraigned in front of Magistrate Daniel Mitchell, who placed the man on a $500 dollar bond. Perdue paid the court $50 and was released.
However, just 45 minutes later, he was pulled over again — this time by Deputy R.L. Jones, also with the sheriff’s office.
West said Jones conducted a traffic stop on Perdue and, once again, he was found intoxicated and was arrested again for DUI with drugs. Perdue was arraigned before Magistrate Steve Cox and a bond was set at $1,500 dollars. He was held at the McDowell County Holding Unit in Welch in lieu of bond.
Perdue made bond again Monday and was released, according to Sgt. J.E. Muncy with the sheriff’s office.
